Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, Prepares for Palm Sunday Celebrations

AMRITSAR, MARCH 7: The Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India (CNI), is all set to celebrate Palm Sunday, commemorating the triumphal entry of Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, on March 29.

Under the guidance of Right Reverend Manoj Charan, Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, the Majha Sevak Sangh (MSS) of the Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, held a meeting to finalize preparations for the celebrations. Bishop Charan emphasized the significance of Palm Sunday, saying, “As we celebrate Palm Sunday, we remember the humble, yet triumphal entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, marking the beginning of His journey to the cross. May this occasion remind us of the true meaning of humility, sacrifice, and love.”

Rev Ayub Daniel, Chairman, MSS, said, “As we prepare to commemorate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, let us reflect on the values of peace, humility, and service that He embodied. May this Palm Sunday inspire us to spread love and kindness in our communities.”

Sharing the route plan, Mr Daniel B Das, Secretary, Amritsar Diocesan Trust Association, who is the convenor of the Palm Sunday Procession, revealed that the Palm Sunday Peace Procession will start from St Paul's Church, Court Road, Amritsar. “The procession will pass through the key boulevards of the city on its way to Christ Church Cathedral, Ram Bagh, Amritsar, spreading a message of peace and brotherhood. It would then return to St Paul’s Church, it’s culmination point,” said Mr Daniel B Das.

Mr Om Prakash, Finance Officer, Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, shared, “Enthusiasm is palpable among Christians in the rural areas under the diocese. We're expecting a strong participation from congregations across Ajnala, Attari, Khem Karan, Batala, and representatives from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.”
