Turbulent Times: Finding Solace in Christ's Peace

The world continues to be plagued by conflict, division, and uncertainty. As tensions rise and hearts grow anxious, humanity yearns for peace, tolerance, and rest. People crave and pray for a saviour to salvage them from the mess caused by irrational fundamentalism, political will, and a history seeped in disobedience, anger, intolerance, and selfish ambition. But the Messiah – the Saviour has already come, and gone, to come again to judge an increasingly wilful world.
He is none other than Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Lamb of God, and the Prince of Peace, who was born into this world 2000 years ago, to reconcile humanity to God, bridging the gap created by sin. Amidst the chaos, Jesus Christ offers a beacon of hope, extending an invitation to experience true peace, salvation, and eternal life. All we have to do is believe in Him, and accept Him as our Lord, and Master, and Saviour.
Through His death on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead on the third day, we can be justified by faith and enjoy peace with God. As Jesus Christ says in the Gospel according to St John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. This peace is not just a feeling, but a profound sense of security and unity with the Creator.
The world we live in is witnessing the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Wars, earthquakes, famines, and pestilences are increasing, just as Jesus predicted. “You will hear of wars and rumours of wars... Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” (Matthew 24:6-7). The conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and other parts of the world are a testament to the truth of God's Word.
As we approach the end times, the Bible warns us to be prepared. The Church, the body of Christ, is on the cusp of a glorious event - the Rapture. “We will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). This event will mark the beginning of the seven-year Tribulation, a period of unprecedented turmoil and judgment.
The Tribulation will be a time of great distress, with the Antichrist rising to power and leading the world into rebellion against God. “He will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god and will speak astonishing things against the Most High God” (Daniel 7:25). The world will face unprecedented wars, natural disasters, and economic upheaval.
The culmination of the Tribulation will be the Battle of Armageddon, where the nations of the world will gather to fight against God. “They gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon” (Revelation 16:16). But Jesus will return, and with a word, He will defeat the enemies of God and establish His kingdom on earth.
“They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30). The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ will bring an end to the reign of terror and usher in a new era of peace, justice, and righteousness.
The Bible urges us to be vigilant and prepared for the Lord's return. “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return” (Luke 12:35-36). Let us use the time we have to spread the message of salvation, make disciples, and live lives that honour God.
In the midst of turmoil, Jesus offers us peace, salvation, and eternal life. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, and find solace in His presence.
