TeaTimeTreats: The Channel Truly Worth Following

The Channel Truly Worth Following

Shaheen P Parshad

A popular social media influencer flashed wads of currency notes and a shopping spree on her latest post, enticing thousands to hit the 'follow' button. But as the likes and comments poured in, her words rang hollow - a stark reminder of the empty promises that often accompany online fame.

In a world where money, gifts, and ephemeral allurements command fan-following more than any lasting, solid foundation, Jesus' invitation cuts through the noise like a whisper in the soul. "Follow Me," He says, dangling not an iPhone or a shopping spree, but something infinitely more precious: eternal life.

The math is staggering: one life, one leader, one gift. No comparison, really. The world's influencers promise a fleeting high, a moment's distraction from the ache within. Jesus offers a forever homecoming, a love that heals the deepest wounds.

Think about it: we're drawn to the trivial, the temporary, the tawdry. We chase likes and followers, only to find ourselves more lost than ever. Meanwhile, the One who knows our name, who sees our scars and secrets, says, "Come, follow Me." No judgment, no fine print.

It's a curious thing: the influencers will fade, their promises forgotten, but Jesus' words remain. He's not looking for groupies or yes-men; He wants followers who'll walk with Him through the messiness of life.

The influencers promise a quick fix; Jesus offers a forever family. A quick glance vs. a lifelong gaze. A moment's thrill vs. eternal joy. The choice is obvious, but the journey's not always straightforward.

In the end, it's not about following a list of rules or chasing a feeling. It's about surrendering to a Person, one who loves us with a love that will outlast the stars. Jesus says, "Follow Me," and in that invitation lies the promise of a new creation, a redeemed life, and a love that will never let us go.

So, what's it going to be? The fleeting thrill or the eternal heartbeat? The decision is ours, but the outcome is forever.
